Wie we zijn, hoe we hiertoe gekomen zijn

Photoimmune Discoveries BV is een besloten vennootschap en dochtermaatschappij van de Natural Health Foundation (NHF), een non-profit organisatie gevestigd in Nederland, gefinancieerd en geleid door de familie van Harrie Vink. In 2003, tijdens de strijd van zijn vrouw tegen longkanker, werd NHF voorzitter Harrie Vink zich bewust van het enorme potentieel van de photodynamische therapie (PDT) en photodiagnose methoden. Hij bedacht de noodzaak om een stichting om onderzoek, onderwijs en opleiding te ondersteunen op het gebied van photomedicine, met een sterke nadruk op innovatieve op licht gebaseerde behandelingen voor kanker.

De stichting pleit voor het mengen van hedendaagse medische behandelingen met zorgvuldig geselecteerde holistische therapieën, waarvan bekend is dat ze veilig en effectief zijn. Door Photoimmune Discoveries en haar andere dochterondernemingen, wil de NHF de medisch-wetenschappelijke gemeenschap wereldwijd informeren en inspireren over de vele voordelen van photomedicine en andere nieuwe vormen van medische behandeling en preventie.

Photoimmune Discoveries is gericht op het ondersteunen van onderzoek en ontwikkeling in het ontluikende gebied van photomedicine, een nieuwe medische discipline met betrekking tot de toepassing van licht voor de preventie en behandeling van de ziekte, alsmede de bevordering van gezondheid en welzijn. Hoewel het belangrijkste doel van deze website is om het grote publiek en de medische wereld te informeren over photomedicine, is ons uiteindelijke doel de steun aan verdere evolutie van zulke fundamentele op licht gebaseerde toepassingen als Photodynamic Therapy, Photodynamic Diagnosis, Photoimmunotherapy, en Fluorescence-Guided Surgery.

Sinds 2003 heeft de NHF in totaal negen klinische studies van diverse toepassingen in photomedicine ondersteund. Door financiering van klinisch proefondervindelijk onderzoek van de stichting, werd Radachlorin® / Bremachlorin® geïntroduceerd als een geneesmiddel in Rusland in 2009. De NHF ondersteunt nu het onderzoek in Nederland dat hopelijk zal leiden tot de aanvaarding van dit geneesmiddel in de westerse wereld.

Waarom zijn we zo geïnteresseerd in het ondersteunen van de ontwikkeling van geneesmiddelen zoals Bremachlorin®? Aangetoond is dat deze licht-sensibiliserende stof zich sterk concentreert in tumoren en zich zelfs richt op de dodelijke tumoren die het meest resistent zijn tegen chemotherapie en radiotherapie. De drie unieke kenmerken van Bremachlorin-PDT zijn:

  • blokkeren van de levering van bloed aan de tumor via de bloedvaten
  • de anti-kanker immuunrespons te stimuleren
  • rechtstreeks vernietigen van tumorcellen door verschillende mechanismen

Andere door NHF-ondersteunde studies hebben geleid tot de ontwikkeling van andere patenten, zoals onze gepatenteerde benadering van immunotherapie genaamd Photoimmunotherapy®.
Als tandem werkend met haar dochterondernemingen, blijft de NHF het onderzoek en de ontwikkeling van holistische, humane,  innovatieve benaderingen met lage kosten voor de behandeling van kanker en andere ziekten ondersteunen; zie onze rubriek “Discoveries”.

Wij geloven dat photomedicine de toekomst is van gezondheid en genezing, en we hopen deze niet-toxische, op licht gebaseerde behandelmethoden bereikbaar te maken voor mensen over de hele wereld en de komende generaties.

Op de Photoimmune Discoveries website kunt u gedetailleerde informatie over PDT (Photo Dynamic Therapy) en andere innovatieve photomedicine toepassingen vinden, evenals hoe ver we al zijn in het verbeteren van de behandeling van kanker en andere ziekten. Who We Are, How We Got Here

Photoimmune Discoveries BV, is a limited liability company and subsidiary of the Natural Foundation Foundation (NHF), a non-profit organization based in the Netherlands, funded and led by the the family of Harrie Vink.  In 2003, during the course his wife’s battle with lung cancer, NHF chairman Harrie Vink became aware of the tremendous potential of photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photodiagnostic methods. He then conceived of the need for a foundation to support research, education, and training in the field of Photomedicine, with a strong initial emphasis on innovative light-based treatments for cancer.

The foundation advocates blending state-of-the-art medical treatments with carefully selected holistic therapies that are known to be safe and effective. Through Photoimmune Discoveries and its other subsidiaries, the NHF seeks to inform and inspire the global medical-scientific community about the many benefits of Photomedicine and other novel forms of medical treatment and prevention.

Photoimmune Discoveries is committed to supporting research and development in the burgeoning field of Photomedicine, a new medical discipline involving the application of light for the prevention and treatment of disease as well as the promotion of health and well-being. Though the main purpose of this website is to inform the general public and medical community about Photomedicine, our ultimate goal is to support the further evolution of such fundamental light-based applications as Photodynamic Therapy, Photodynamic Diagnosis, Photoimmunotherapy, and Fluorescence-Guided Surgery.

Since 2003, the NHF has supported a total of nine clinical studies of various applications in Photomedicine. Through the foundation’s funding of clinical trial research, Radachlorin®/Bremachlorin® was introduced as a medicine in Russia in 2009. The NHF is now supporting research in the Netherlands that will hopefully lead to this medicine’s acceptance in the western world.

Why are we so interested in supporting the development of medicines like Bremachlorin®? It has been shown that this light-sensitizing agent concentrates strongly in tumors and targets even those lethal tumors that are most resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The three unique features of Bremachlorin-PDT are to block the blood vessel supply to the tumor, enliven the anti-cancer immune response, and destroy tumor cells directly by various mechanisms.

Other NHF-supported studies have led to the development of other patents, such as our patented approach to immunotherapy known as Photoimmunotherapy®. Working in tandem with its subsidiaries, the NHF continues to support the research and development of holistic, humane, low-cost, and innovative approaches to the treatment of cancer and other diseases that you can read about in our DISCOVERIES section.

 

Spreading the Word, Supporting Our Cause

Photomedicine is a rapidly growing field of medical endeavor, and new findings are emerging around the world almost daily. One of the tasks of the photoimmune.org website is to unearth and illuminate these new findings, while also sharing insights and perspectives relating to light’s immense healing potential. We believe that Photomedicine is the future of health and healing, and we hope to make these non-toxic, light-based treatment methods a reality for people around the world and for many generations to come.

On the Photoimmune Discoveries website, you will find detailed information about PDT and other innovative Photomedicine applications, as well as how they are already improving the treatment of cancer and other diseases. This information should be inspiring to physicians and patients alike, and ultimately may help create the opportunities for the clinical research needed to place Photomedicine more firmly on the medical map.
